University Road Belfast
Located on University road the building is listed and is within a conservation area. This area contains many great examples of architecture in Belfast. The graceful terraces of the University neighbourhood (1840-1860) represent the final construction of Georgian architecture in Belfast. There are fine examples on streets such as Prospect Terrace, Botanic View, College View (now Fitzwilliam Place) and the unique Dutch- I gabled Queen’s Elms. Originally the block consisted of 5 town houses but unfortunately 2 have been demolished to make way for a modern bank. 43-47 University road were in a poor state and required a lot of attention to try and recover the original features. The result is a building that will hopefully bring delight to the new occupants of the 3 apartments and soon to a new coffee shop.
