Lombard street is considered a typical city centre side street with 3 / 4 storey buildings on each side containing a variety of retail units. There are listed building beside and opposite the proposed site which are to be respected. The design for the new mixed development scheme looks back to the 1920’s when a 3 storey building with a large mansard roof was discovered in building controlĀ documentation. The building was simple in form and function but had decorative features to the facades. This building takes many of its design considerations from this design namely its form and proportions. The scheme proposes a ground floor restaurant with twelve apartments over four floors. A separate stair enclosure from Rosemary street will serve the apartments. The proposed finish will be a soft clay brick colour contrasting with dark grey window frames and metal work. Stone panels will be set above windows and a brick plinth will wrap around the building at each level.
